Notes in the margin of every book.
Helicon is a reader for non-fiction on iPad and iPhone. Hold a finger on the page, and a pin drops beside the line. The pin opens a note that never runs out of room.

Type in it, draw in it with Apple Pencil or a finger, and keep drawing: when you get near the end, a new page opens below. Add a checklist, a photo, or your voice. Snip a figure off the page and draw on top of it.
Give a pin a kind, so you see what it is from across the page: Note, Question, Idea or Action. Tap a pin to open it. Drag it to move it.
Some thoughts are not about one page. The book pin holds them: the questions you bring to the book, a to-do list, a note to read later. It is not tied to a page, so it stays on screen as you turn pages. Drag it anywhere, and it stays there for that book.
Speed reading lights the words in front of your eyes and moves at your pace. Your eyes follow the light, and stop going back over lines you already read.
Helicon keeps your library in your own iCloud. Add a book on your iPad, and it is on your iPhone too, with your pins, highlights and notes. No account to make, and no server of ours in between.
Select a line to highlight it or look it up. Review brings your pins back a few days later, so you remember what you read. Find searches the author's words and your own. Export a book's notes as Markdown.
Your books, pins and notes stay on your device and in your own iCloud. We never see them. We count page visits and which features people use, with no book titles and no note text. When you join the beta, we keep your email to know who tests. The privacy policy says the rest.
