Add a book
On Books, tap Add book and pick a PDF or an EPUB from Files. You can also share a file to Helicon from another app with Add to Helicon, or drag a file onto Books on an iPad. A new install has an empty shelf, because Helicon opens only the books you add.
Pin a note in the margin
Long press the margin to pin a note. Type in it, draw in it, add a photo or record your voice. Tap the pin to open the note again, and drag it to move it.
Highlight and save a pin
Long press a word to select it, then drag the handles to select more. Choose a highlight, or tap More, then Save to study, to keep the line as a pin with one sentence about why it matters.
Speed read
Tap Speed read on the reader's bottom bar. It opens paused. Tap a line to begin there, then tap Play. Use the minus and plus buttons to change the pace. Tap Done to stop.
Review
The Review card on Books shows how many pins are due today. Tap Start review. Not yet brings a pin back tomorrow, and Got it spaces it out. Every pin is also in Settings, Reading, All pins.
iCloud
With iCloud on, your books and notes sync between your iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud. After a new install, books come back by download, so give it a minute with the app open. To stop sync, tap the iCloud button on Books.
Report a problem
Open Settings, About. When iOS has logged a crash or a hang, a row says Send problem reports. It opens the share sheet, so you choose where it goes. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
Account
There is none. Helicon needs no sign-up. The privacy policy says what stays on your device and what does not.
