Paper, Sepia, Mist and Sage are light. Slate, Night, Midnight and Dusk are dark. System follows your device: Paper by day, Night after dark. The whole app takes the page's colour, so a dark page never sits in a white frame.
Highlights show on a dark page, and the page keeps a PDF's own colours: a navy heading stays navy. Speed reading lights the line you read, and you choose how dark the rest of the page goes.
